Can You Freeze Weed Brownies? Yes, But Here’s How to Do It Right
As Marijuana becomes legal in more and more places around the world and particularly in many US states, weed brownies are also growing in popularity. Naturally, when you’re making weed brownies, you may not actually get to eat them all since they may be too much, so freezing is a good alternative.
In this way, you can take some out when you feel like it, without worrying about wasting costly weed.
Can You Freeze Weed Brownies?
If you’re also worried about wasting perfectly good brownies if you don’t get to eat them before they go bad, you may consider freezing them. So have multiple readers of ours. Here’s the message we received from one of them:
This may seem like a weird question, but here goes! Marijuana was recently legalized in the state I live. Now I can buy it and use it legally. Still, I’m not a fan of smoking anything, so I typically consume my weed baked into brownies. Although I share with friends, we never get through an entire batch of brownies in one sitting. Also, I don’t need very much weed to make a batch, so the rest just stays sitting around until next time I need it. I would like to bake up a few batches at a time and then freeze them, so I can eat them at my leisure. I’m not sure if weed freezes well. Can you freeze weed brownies?
Yes, you can freeze weed brownies. Marijuana is a plant like any other, and in its dried form actually freezes quite well. Be aware that many people feel that the taste and potency intensify once frozen. You may need to play around a bit with the quantity in the recipe until you get a result you’re happy with.
How to Freeze Weed Brownies?
To freeze weed brownies, start with freshly baked brownies. The longer they sit out, the more they will dry out, which can result in a dry and crumbly mess after being frozen. Starting with freshly baked brownies will help retain as much moisture as possible and hold up against the drying effects of freezing. Allow the brownies to come to room temperature, then decide in what quantity you wish to freeze them.
If you are freezing a whole batch:
- You can simply freeze them in the container they were baked in (assuming it is freezer-safe).
- Simply wrap the container in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then slide it into a freezer bag.
- Seal the bag, then label and date it.
To freeze individual brownie squares:
- Place the squares on a baking sheet.
- Place the sheet in the freezer for about twenty minutes to flash freeze the squares.
- Remove the baking sheet from the freezer.
- Then, you can choose to either wrap each brownie individually in plastic wrap or simply place all the squares into a freezer bag.
- The flash freezing will prevent them from sticking together or from sticking to the plastic.
How to Keep Weed Brownies for Longer?
If you want to make sure that your weed brownies are ok for a long time, then you may want to use a food saver. Food savers will suck out all the air in the freezer bag or container, creating a perfect seal. In this way, anything sealed in this way will have a much longer life span in the freezer.
We recommend you use FoodSaver V4840 2-in-1 Vacuum Sealer Machine, which is one of our very favorites. We love how it works with multiple sized-bags and containers, so you can freeze up individual weed brownies or larger batches.
How to Thaw Weed Brownies
Whenever you feel like having another weed brownie, you can remove them from the freezer. We recommend you allow them to thaw at room temperature, but you can also microwave on the appropriate defrost setting.
