DIY Glamorous Beaded Pumpkin
Halloween is one of those holidays that has become very commercialized, and with that comes lots of cheesy decor. So today I wanted to share a fun DIY that is glamorous and sophisticated rather than gaudy. This black beaded pumpkin is sure to impress your guests when they come over for a visit. Read on to find out how to make your own.
Here’s what you’ll need for your glam pumpkin:
- A small artificial pumpkin
- 2 packages of black faceted beads (I bought these)
- 1 package of small black seed beads
- Silver craft paint
- A paint brush
- 2 packages of dressmaker pins
- Thimble (not pictured)
Begin by painting the pumpkin stem with silver paint. Let it dry, and do a second coat of paint if necessary.
Place one seed bead on a pin, and then put a black faceted bead on. Without the seed bead, the faceted one will slide right off the pin.
Poke it through the surface of the pumpkin. Repeat the process until the entire pumpkin is covered. And that’s it, it’s as easy as that!
Depending on the thickness of your pumpkin, you may want to use a thimble to poke the pins into the surface. Otherwise you’ll have a sore finger!
I won’t sugar coat it for you… this project does take some patience to complete. But it’s one of those things that you can do while you’re watching TV because it doesn’t take a ton of focus.
The end result is quite beautiful, especially with the faceted beads which catch the light and make it sparkle. It will give any centerpiece an instant infusion of elegance. And don’t forget that you can try other colors, too. Wouldn’t it be beautiful in silver and gold?!
Happy crafting everyone!
