How to Make a Halloween Cat?
First off, before you start making your very own super cute Halloween cat, please double-check that you have all the materials on hand so you don’t have to get up and find something or another that you forgot.
Step 1: Paint the Black Halloween Cat
The first thing we’re going to do is to paint the wood board. So, pick up the round wood board, the paintbrush and your black acrylic paint. We’re using a flat brush here, as it can help with a faster coverage.
Make sure you cover all areas and that the color is thick enough that the wood is no longer visible.
Since this is acrylic paint we’re using, the drying process is going to be fairly quick, so it should be done soon.
Step 2: Make Some Cat Ears for the Halloween Cat
For our next step, we used a piece of paper to draw the outline of some really cute ears. Not only did we do the slightly-rounded triangle shape, but we also made sure to include a little area for a fold. Get yourscissorsand cut out the shape. For the smaller triangles, there’s no fold area required.
Once the pattern is done, you’re going to want to get the black glitter foam paper sheet. Place the larger pattern over the back of the foam paper sheet and draw the outline of the cat ear. You’ll obviously need two of these.
As soon as the drawing is done, you’ll want to get thescissors again and cut out the pattern.
In no time you’ll some a couple of really cute cat ears like these!.
Next, we’re going to give these ears some dimension, so pick up the pink glittered foam paper sheet and place the smaller triangles on it. Get thepencil and draw the outline on the paper sheet.
Once you’re done, go ahead and get the scissors to cut the shapes out. Be careful to follow the outline, so you don’t have to redo the whole process.
The cute pink shapes are done!
Step 3: Glue the Ears on the Halloween Cat
Now that the cat ears are done, it’s time we glue them up. The black frame should be dry by now, so simply get your glue gun. Place some hot glue on the bottom area of the black cat ear, covering the same area that we initially marked with dotted lines.
Grab the round black frame and place the first ear on one of the sides. Then, once you’ve applied hot glue to the second cat ear, you can do the same with the second. As a rule of thumb, you simply have to make sure you place them relatively in the same position and some distance apart – like they’d sit on the head of a cat.
Next, it’s time we add the pink interiors for the cat ears. Before you add any type of glue, measure up the piece of paper to make sure it’s the right size, as you’ll want to have some black visible behind the pink.
Once that’s done, apply some hot glue to the back of the pink material and apply it over the black ears, making sure it touches the side of the frame.
Repeat the process for the second ear!
Step 4: Give the Cat Some Whiskers
For the next step, you want to get the black pipe cleaner pieces. We suggest you bend each piece in halves and then once more, and use the scissors to cut a piece in four.
Make sure they’re all the same size so your kitty looks nice.
Then, you want to arrange three whiskers on one side and three on the other.
Grab the glue gun and place some hot glue to the very end of each of the whiskers.
Make sure you press the pipe cleaner into the wood board. It will take a few seconds for the hot glue to solidify.
Repeat the process on the other side of the Halloween cat.
Step 5: Add a Hanging Ribbon
Up next, we’re going to have to add a hanging ribbon to the back of the wood frame. We went with the slim black ribbon and created a simple loop, making sure the two ends overlap. The length of the loop is all up to you and depends how low you want the decor piece to hang.
Once you’ve used your scissors to cut the length you want, you can add a bit of hot glue on the back of the wood frame and press the ribbon loop into that.
Make sure to keep the material pressed there for a few seconds so the glue sets.
Step 6: Let’s Make a Ribbon
Next, we cut another small piece of the black ribbon. We’re going to use this to tie the bow, so it doesn’t have to be too long.
Next, pick up the pink ribbon and arrange it into the shape of a bow. Get the small black piece of ribbon and tie a knot around the middle of the pink material.
Once you’ve done your double knot, get the scissors and cut the pink ribbon tails at an angle. Then, trim the black ribbon too, so none of the tails show.
Plop some hot glue to the middle of the bottom area on the wood board and place the ribbon over it.
Again, make sure you press the ribbon for a few seconds, so the hot glue settles.
And you’re done! This Halloween decorpiece is super cute and we hope you enjoy it just the same!
