Transform a Vase With Only a Few Supplies
If you see a vase on clearance at your local home store (or at a thrift store or rummage sale) that may not match your décor or isn’t really your style, you may want to think twice about passing it up! You can quickly transform a vase with only a few supplies. With some help from spray paint and beautiful metallic decals, you can transform a vase (that you would have passed up) into a new home decor piece in less than thirty minutes!
For this project you will need:
- Vase
- Martha Stewart Decoupage Metallic Decals
- Foam Paint Brush
- Mod Podge – Gloss
- Scissors
- Spray Paint
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Step 1: Remove any extra detail on your vase (mine was covered in decorative metal, so I cut it all of). Wipe down your vase with alcohol to remove any dirt or dust. Then, use your spray paint to cover your vase. You may need to do additional coats depending on the spray paint coverage.
Step 2: After your paint has dried, grab your metallic decals. Wrap one of the decals around your vase, overlapping it a little. Cut the excess decal with your scissors.
Step 3: Put a dap of hot glue on the end of your metallic decal, wrap it around your vase and glue it to the other end of you decal, securing it in place.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with another decal design.
Step 5: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with your third and final decal design, adding underneath your second decal.
Step 6: Use your fingers to adjust your decals if necessary. Then, go over your three decals with a layer of Mod Podge. This will help adhere your decals to your vase. Let the Mod Podge dry.
This transformation is so quick and easy. Just think of all the vases you could customize. Thrift stores and garage sales are the best places to find your next piece to makeover!
Since the white and gold act as a neutral, you can display your vase in different rooms in your home!
