DIY Coffee Body Scrub Bars Recipe
Coffee is known to have all kinds of health benefits when consumed in moderation, but did you know that it also makes a great addition to your skincare routine? It is loaded with antioxidants, and it makes a great exfoliant to get rid of dead skin cells. And when combined with coconut oil, it will leave your skin feeling silky smooth. So read on to find out how to make these fun coffee body scrub bars.
Here’s what you’ll need for your body coffee scrub bars:
- A muffin tin
- 1 cup of coffee grounds (they can be used, but make sure they’re dry)
- 1 cup of coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
- A spoon
Step by step tutorial for the coffee body scrub:
Step 1: add vanilla
Begin by pouring the vanilla extract into the coffee grounds. Stir the mix until the vanilla is evenly distributed.
Step 2: microwave
Next, heat up the coconut oil in the microwave until it becomes a clear liquid. It took me about 50 seconds, but you should check yours every 20 seconds or so because you don’t want it to burn. Remove it from the microwave with oven mitts andpour the coffee grounds into the oil. Stir until they are thoroughly mixed.
Step 3: add in a mold
Pour the mixture into the muffin tin, dividing it evenly between the cups. Mine were about 3/4 full.
Step 4: freeze
It should look something like this. The coffee grounds will sink to the bottom… and that’s okay! Pop the tin in the freezer for about 2 hours. The mixture will harden into solid bars.
Conclusion
And voilà, they magically turn into these fun black and white bars! If you have trouble removing them from the muffin tin, simply fill a baking pan with hot water and submerge the bottom of the tin in the water for a minute or two. The hot water will melt the outsides of the bars enough so that they will slide right out.
Just wet your skin and rub the bar back and forth and then rinse to achieve the softest, smoothest skin you’ve ever had!
These bars make great gifts too… who wouldn’t love something so luxurious?! Make sure to store them in the refrigerator so they don’t melt in warmer weather. Now go pamper yourself!
I put peppermint Oil in it instead of vanilla
Love this idea! How long do they normally last for?
