DIY Fall Embellished Sweatshirt
Fall is upon us, which means it’s time to pull out your favorite jewel tone fashion pieces. It is such a nice change to transition from bright colors to darker, richer colors. In my opinion, Fall colors are the prettiest!
Another fashion trend that seems to come out when Fall returns is chunky jewelry from statement necklaces, bold bracelets, and show-stopping earrings. Statement necklace are also an outfit must, if you ask me. A striking necklace can really finish off an outfit and take it to the next level!
This project takes both the Fall color pallet and the bling of a statement necklace and combines them into one wearable piece! A cozy sweatshirt is transformed into a sophisticated top with the addition of bling around the collar. This no-sew embellished sweatshirt just requires an iron!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Sweatshirt
- Iron on Rhinestones
- Iron
Step 1: Take your sweatshirt and fold it in half. You will fold it in half to find the center of your sweatshirt and collar. This will help with perfectly aligning your crystal iron-ons.
Step 2: Grab your iron-on crystals and peel the plastic backing off. This will expose the adhesive on the back of your rhinestones. You will want to keep the plastic on the front of the rhinestones as this will help keep the design of the rhinestones in place.
Step 3: I picked up 6 iron-on crystal designs and laid them out just under the collar of my sweatshirt. I placed 3 rhinestone designs on each side of my collar. You can add as few or as many rhinestone designs to your sweatshirt.
Step 4: Next, you will need to heat up your iron. You will want to put it on a medium heat setting and make sure you turn off the steam function (if your iron has that on it). Once your iron has heated up, you will then place it on top of your rhinestones. Press down on your rhinestones with your iron leaving it on top of them for 30 seconds. You will repeat this step with all of your iron-on rhinestones.
Step 5: After you have finished ironing on all of your rhinestones, you will let them cool. Once they are cool to the touch, you will peel back the plastic liner to expose your rhinestone. If you see a rhinestone or two coming up as you peel off your plastic, lay your plastic back down and hit your rhinestones again with your iron.
Once you have ironed all of your crystals, you will be left with a cozy sweatshirt that will make a serious statement!
